Financial Literacy

In room 19 we have been learning about financial literacy. We have been learning the key financial literacy names and they're meanings.
  • Income - Something given to you that you have earned
EG Walking the neighbours dog each day - $6.
  • Trade off - Something you lose to take up another opportunity
EG I'm now old enough to work at the super market, but that means I can't play soccer with my friends after school if I get a job.
  • Balance - Is what you start off with
EG I want to start a car wash with my friends. I have $20 to start it off with.
  • Expense - Is how much something costs
EG I went to the dairy one day with my brother. We bought two lollie bags at $1 each.

We have been investigating the costs involved in things like
- cooking a meal for our family
- getting a new pet for our family
- having a birthday party
- going on a day out with our friends
- going on holiday.

We have been using our graphing skills to present the data

Pre-Spring clean

Today a group of students from rooms 19,15,14 and 11 took a trip down to the domain and picked up a lot of litter.

In total we picked up 111 Kgs of assorted litter. The massive total was made up of 29 Kgs of wood,4 Kgs of metal,11 Kgs of Organics, 9 Kgs of glass,27 Kgs of plastic and 31 Kgs of Other which was things like car mats and tires!

By looking at these results we can tell that we should use less plastic wrapped/packaged food while on our way to places and should make an attempt to either put packaging in your pocket or wrap your food in cooking paper so that it can at least degrade.

Well done guys keep up the good work!

Cheers

Jac,Cameron and Ruben
